Virey & Garnier
Production drums, Bonneuil-sur-Marne, France.
History
A French manufacturer that a used-equipment reseller turns into “a historic name of the Italian food industry.” The register says otherwise: the Société Virey Garnier Somatal, SIREN 582069852, is domiciled on avenue des Marguerites in Bonneuil-sur-Marne, in the Val-de-Marne, under a code for food-industry machinery manufacturing. Between a commercial advertisement and the SIRENE directory, the second source prevails.
The creation date recorded in the register, December 25, 1958, is a default date attributed to the computerization of the directory: the company may be older. The establishment closed on July 13, 1992. Machines from 1978 to 1980 were still working in 2010, one converted to fuel oil, with a rebuilt refractory hearth, which suggests a masonry combustion chamber; this is a forum hypothesis, not a fact.
What it makes
Gas drums, whose principle is documented by no manufacturer source.
The models
A model of about 12 kg around 1980 (gas and 380 V, about 60 kg/h) and a “120 K” of 1978 are the only designations encountered. No catalog found.
What you gain
The only verifiable thing is longevity: forty-year-old machines in service with limited overhaul. The rest would be invented.
What you lose
Without a documented technical principle, no honest analysis is possible.
