Novo (Daiichi Denshi)
Tabletop and countertop machines, Kyoto, Japan.
History
Daiichi Denshi, founded in 1983 in Fushimi, in Kyoto, by an electronics parent company created in 1966, makes fully automatic roasters: the 2012 NOVO MARK II stores 50 to 150 programs, obtains Canadian UL and CE certifications in 2018, and the 2020 α NOVO receives the same year a Good Design Award, the official Japanese distinction. More than 750 units sold cumulatively in 2026, which places it as a niche player.
The machine has also roasted golden sesame seeds for a municipality in Nara: a machine designed to reproduce a profile without a trained operator, the exact opposite of Fuji Royal's manual operation.
What it makes
Fully automatic roasters. The heating mode and capacities are not published.
The models
NOVO MARK II (2012), α NOVO (2020).
What you gain
Full automation, for an operator who wants a profile reproduced with no one standing at the machine.
What you lose
Nothing more can be written until the heating principle is documented.
