Documentary reference point: a production attested by one source, with no FAOSTAT series and no ICO membership. Region: Africa.

Saint Helena produces coffee without appearing in the FAOSTAT series for green coffee or among the ICO members. This page places it on the map with the source that attests it, without inventing a sector for it.

Production is reported by a serious but unofficial source, or by a FAOSTAT series closed long ago.

    History

This reference point has no series: it exists only through the source cited below.

    Today

Daily Coffee News, August 30, 2016: at its peak in the late 1990s the island could produce about 12 tonnes of green coffee a year (figure from the island’s tourism site, a potential and not a measurement), of which a quarter for export; Starbucks says it roasted 220 pounds, or a third of the year’s harvest, which gives a harvest of about 300 kg (calculation from this single statement). Only a few acres remain.
