attested production, closed FAOSTAT seriesDocumentary reference point

Documentary reference point: production attested by a source, with a closed FAOSTAT series and no ICO membership. Region: Caribbean.

Guadeloupe produces coffee without appearing in the recent FAOSTAT green coffee series or among the ICO members. This page puts it on the map with the source that attests to it, without inventing an industry for it.

Production is reported by a serious but unofficial source, or by a FAOSTAT series closed long ago.

    History

This reference point has no series: it exists only through the source cited below.

    Today

FAOSTAT green coffee: 500 t in 1961, 35 t in 2001-2002, 24.44 t in 2006 (imputed value, flag I), series closed since. A current production exists (Café Chaulet project under photovoltaic canopies in the Matouba valley, agricultural notice of a municipality of Basse-Terre, 2024; the page returned 403 and could not be opened) but no recent figure was found. An estimate of 20 to 30 t marketable in 2005 and 50 to 80 pluriactive farmers was reported to me by a research summary, without my having been able to open the original document: to be checked before any use.

    Gray areas

    • No annual series: impossible to say whether production is rising or falling.
    • The source often describes a single farm or association, not a whole territory.
