Fiji was missing from the atlas although FAOSTAT still records green coffee production there. This page includes it without inventing a terroir profile for it. It establishes the statistical presence and shows the available series.

This profile level is deliberately more sober than the editorial dossiers. It does not allow deducing species, varieties, processes, quality or exported volumes.

Trend as declared or estimated by FAOSTAT, in tonnes of green coffee. Hollow point: the latest value is estimated by FAOSTAT, not declared by the country. Small hollow points: the 43 earlier years that FAOSTAT imputes or estimates. A break may come from the field, but also from the statistical method.

    History

The first positive value retained in this series dates from 1962. This reference point dates neither the introduction of the coffee tree nor the real start of its cultivation. It only indicates the observable start in this dataset.

FAOSTAT, Production: Crops and livestock products, item Coffee, green, code 656, element Production, code 5510.

    Today

The most recent value is about 14 tonnes for 2024. FAOSTAT qualifies it as an “estimated value.” This status is essential: an imputed value must not be read as a field census.

    Gray areas

    • The series does not distinguish here between arabica, canephora and other species.
    • It does not say what share is exported, consumed locally or lost.
    • It is not enough to tell the story of the producers, the territories and the political history of the sector.
